What is Psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a general term for treating mental health problems by talking with a psychiatrist, psychologist or other mental health providers. Further it will usually involve a case history taking, mental status examination, a diagnosis and follow up sessions with or without medication.

About 75 percent of people who enter psychotherapy show some benefit from it. Psychotherapy has been shown to improve emotions and behaviors and to be linked with positive changes in the brain and body. The benefits also include fewer sick days, less disability, fewer medical problems, and increased work satisfaction.

What is MHAT Psychotherapy?
MHAT or Mental Health Action Trust was founded by Dr Manoj Kumar – an Ashoka change-maker with the core purpose of offering recovery oriented mental health care to the poorest of the poor, free of cost. MHAT offers psychotherapy as a service to its clients who are able to make a small contribution. The service enables individuals from all over the world connect with expert therapists from MHAT by using technology. This contribution received from delivering this service then feeds into supporting the core work of MHAT. The technology for this if offered to MHAT by the social enterprise Saarathi as a charitable service. This in-turn helps MHAT make the service affordable to the end user.
What is MHAT's aim?
MHAT’s mission is to offer comprehensive recovery oriented mental healthcare for the poorest of the poor including the wandering homeless. Dr.Manoj Kumar and and his team of experienced doctors, therapists and mental health workers, devote themselves to this cause.
Are there any fees for the service?
MHATs offers cost effective virtual, phone based and face to face psychotherapy for clients from around the world to generate revenue to support its primary cause of supporting the poor and wandering mental ill. Saarathi helps MHAT with the technology. 100% of the contributions (after taxes and gateway charges) from the Psychotherapy sessions go to support MHATs mission for the poorest of the poor. In other words when you avail an MHAT Psychotherapy service, you actually have contributed to the treatment of the poorest of the poor.
